GCSE Business Studies - Year 10 Scheme of Work

All businesses exist to provide goods and services to their customers and wealth for the economy.  The GCSE examines how they are organised and the factors that make them successful.  Business Studies is therefore compatible with a range of vocational and academic subjects and courses.  It provides students with the opportunity to study key ideas of business activity.  The progressive nature of the course encourages the development of holistic understanding of Business Studies.  Study of GCSE Business Studies will provide a valuable insight into the working of a modern economy.

Edexcel’s GCSE Business Studies aims to;

  • promote the study of business through class work and coursework which provide students with a sound basis for progression to Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced General Certificate of Education in Business Studies, Business Studies and Economics and Economics, and to Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced VCE in Business or to employment
  • increase awareness and consideration of the spiritual moral, social, ethical and cultural issues within a business environment
  • produce students or employees who have a sound understanding of business and who have the ability to use knowledge, skills and understanding appropriately in the context of the UK and European market.
