Lesson monitoring

To ensure that improving the standards of teaching and learning remains the highest of priorities all subject areas are monitored on a regular basis. The programme includes the observation of lessons, plus extensive monitoring of student books, files and on-line folders, teachers’ records, schemes of work and departmental handbooks. A report is produced for each department which includes recommendations for further development, and this report is discussed with the Curriculum Panel of the Governing Body.

The monitoring of departments is an excellent means of identifying areas of outstanding practice and areas for further development. Outstanding practice is shared through the middle leadership forum which meets on a monthly basis and remains a valuable vehicle for continuing improvement.
